ANKSTMUSIK are proud to announce the imminent release of a collection of historical recordings by one of Wales most legendary underground groups.
Datblygu (Develop) recorded five sessions for the John Peel Radio show between 1987 and 1993 and all twenty of those tracks will be featured on this release.
John Peel was a massive fan (he said that Datblygu were the best incentive anyone could have for learning Welsh) and his support for the band outside their native Wales was instrumental in the development of the whole underground music scene in Wales that later blossomed into the Cool Cymru explosion.
The collection features many exclusive non-album tracks, full notes on the songs by singer David R. Edwards and highlights the band’s unique musical style with a knack for genius lyrics and performance.
In addition to this release, the band (David R. Edwards and Pat Morgan) have recently recorded a brand new track (their first since 1995) called ‘Can y Mynach Modern’ (‘The Song of the Modern Monk’) which will be released later in the year. To promote the release of the PEEL SESSIONS CD David and Pat will be attending a night of films about Datblygu which is organised at the National Library in Aberystwyth on April the 25 th. The evening is called Y LLWCH AR EICH SGRIN (The Dust on Your Screens)
